While a diet shouldn’t be affected by one’s high paying career, it will be Depending upon how much money you earn in your busy lifestyle, your food choices will vary from those who do not have the resources you might have. However, you may find it is much more difficult to stick with a good diet plan during your busy day. It can be harder to find the time to exercise as well.
A good diet or DiƤten will contain the same needed calories, fats, vitamins and minerals no matter what your schedule might be. However, the foods that provide these aspects of a diet will be different depending upon what you can afford and how easy it is to get access to healthy foods.
Even if you work eighteen-hour days you need to make wise food choices. This is not always easy, especially if you are holding business meetings at all hours of the day and night dealing with overseas clients in different time zones. If this is your situation, there are some things you can do to make it a little easier:
1. Pack healthy snacks. If you are only eating two or three meals a day instead of six smaller meals, you may be eating two to three times the calories you need each day. Simply because your body is starving for energy, you will tend to eat more to make up for the day’s loss of food. By taking some healthy snacks to work, such as fresh fruit, vegetables, or even a turkey sandwich, you will be able to keep your metabolism up and still not hurt your diet.
2. Drink water. This is something that is often overlooked by busy people. Coffee, tea, and alcohol may be the norm during business lunches and dinners. Drinking water will save you a lot of calories and give your body something it truly needs.
3. Eat healthy while eating out. Meals at restaurants normally will contain up to fifty percent more calories than a home cooked meal. If you feel as though you are eating out, be sure to start making healthy choices. Consider baked or broiled fish, with no sauces. Salads can be a good choice, but get the dressing on the side. Appetizers can be loaded with fat and calories, and of course so can the rich, decadent deserts. Don’t slather on the herbed butter on the bread before the meal, or just avoid the bread all together. Avoid the cocktail and drink water instead.
4. Sit down to eat. Take few minutes to sit down and eat. Don’t work through every meal. If you are focusing on your food, you will consciously eat less than if your mind is on other things. Don’t eat while you are driving. Not only is it dangerous, you will find you will eat more without even realizing it.
5. Hit the gym. While you may feel there is no way you will have enough time, you will be amazed at how much more energy you will have. Starting your day with exercise will help you put your day in perspective. If you absolutely cannot make the time to go to the gym, try parking a little further away at work or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Anything that you can do to add a few minutes of exercise each day will help.
